What is Restort?
Restort is a free messaging platform where you can chat, call, video call, share your screen, and meet new people. You can create group chats and communities, and in the future you'll be able to create full servers without group size limits.
Is Restort free to use?
Yes. Restort is free to use and will always have a free version. Messaging, calls, and groups are available to everyone.
What is Restort Core?
Restort Core is an optional subscription that helps support the platform. Core users receive extra customization features and early access to upcoming tools and beta features.
Do I need Restort Core to chat or call people?
No. Messaging, voice calls, video calls, screen sharing, and group chats are free for everyone. Restort Core only adds enhancements and early access to experimental features.
How do I add someone as a friend?
You add people using their @username, not their display name. Display names are not unique, but usernames are.
Can I change my username?
Yes. You can change your username for free at any time.
What happens when I change my username?
Your new username updates everywhere immediately. Your old username is reserved for your account for 24 hours. After that, it becomes available to others.
Can I edit or delete my messages?
Yes. You can edit or delete your own messages at any time. Edited messages show an "Edited" label, and deleted messages display a small notice.
How do I block or report someone?
Open their profile and click the three dots, or right-click their name in chats or the DM list.
Does Restort read my messages?
No. Restort does not access or read private message content. End-to-end encryption is planned for the future.
Is Restort end-to-end encrypted?
Not yet. End-to-end encryption is on the roadmap and will be added as the platform grows.
What is Activity Status?
Activity Status shows what you're currently doing, such as playing a game, watching a show, listening to music, or working on a project.
How do I mute a conversation?
Right-click the conversation in your message list and choose "Mute Conversation," then select the duration.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. You can delete your account in Settings, which removes your personal data.
Why are some features marked "Beta"?
Beta features are still being tested and improved. Some beta tools may be limited or available early to Restort Core users while we refine them.
